Five Games into it...

Five Games into It.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Jacob Winterton and his family to the Raiders. Jake is a seasoned “AAA” hockey player who comes to us with plenty of big game experiences. That experience will be a huge help towards our teams chances for success. I’m very excited to have Jake aboard. Once again, welcome!

In regards to the team’s success…. Fans please don’t give up on us! This isn’t the time to divide, to lay blame and certainly not the time to start talking about greener pastures elsewhere. In fact this needs to be the time for the team to come together, grow stronger and look to support each other. That’s called having the right attitude or in other words, just good character.

True character shows itself during the hard times and if you call a couple of losses to last years OMHA Champions hard times it’s our character, our attitudes that will help us through these hard times.

As the coach I know where our team wants to go and what it’s going to take to get there. Objectively it’s going to take lowering our goals against average. This isn’t a goalie thing or a defensemen thing, it’s a team thing, a coaching thing and along with the coaching staff I will work as hard as I possibly can to improve that. On the other hand and more importantly for any chance of success it’s the intangible of believing in each other, pulling for each other and playing for each other that’s so very important. It’s a character thing, an attitude that is only possible through positive guidance and support.

It’s been my personal experience that there is no better hockey experience then a team that has success through true team character rather then through skill alone. It’s certainly much harder to do but much more gratifying. It’s an experience you never forget.

Five games into it and finally a full squad, just another thing to look forward to!
