Minor Peewee Raiders (2005s) Advance to Ottawa Bell Capital Cup 2017 Finals

In a premiere tournament for their age group, the Minor Peewee Raiders advanced to the championship game of the AAA Minor Peewee age group on January 1, 2017. Played out at the Canadian Tire Centre, where the Ottawa Senators call home, the Raiders battled the Gloucester Rangers for the championship.

The Minor Peewee age group for the tournament consisted of 19 AAA teams from Canada & the USA.  The Raiders finished seeded 5th coming out of the round robin with a 3-1 record to advance to the playoff round (top 8 advance). In the Round Robin, the Raiders defeated Boston Advantage, Brantford 99ers & Long Island Gulls. Our loss in the round robin came at the hands of the Gloucester Rangers.

The quarter final playoff game was an 8am game January 1 against the Kanata Blazzers; coached by previous NHLer Radek Bonk.  The Raiders won the game in overtime with a face-off win and drive to the net by Ethan McLean(#7).  The 12pm semi final game was against the Connecticut Oilers who were ranked 1st coming out of the round robin and undefeated in the tournament.  With drive, determination and passion coming from every player, parent & coach our Raiders beat the Connecticut Oilers 4-3 to advance to the Finals.

Played out in the Canadian Tire Centre, home to the Ottawa Senators, the Raiders battled valiantly in a re-match against the Gloucester Rangers.  The Raiders lost the final game 4-0 but are proud to be crowned Finalists in this prestigious tournament.  Our team exemplified the very best in character, class, respect and hard work.  The Raiders organization is proud to call you our own!
